Partnerships
In this complex, globalized, post 9/11 world, our operational partnerships have never been more important to our efforts to protect your communities.
Today, we work with colleagues at every level of government—local, state, federal, even international—across the law enforcement, intelligence, and first responder communities. We lead and take part in multi-agency task forces, intelligence groups and fusion centers, and public and private sector alliances. A number of our partners literally sit shoulder-to-shoulder with us in FBI space, just as we share our agents and analysts with other agencies. We work closely on joint investigations—sometimes taking the lead, sometimes taking a back seat to others, sometimes contributing equally among many agencies. Our work with our colleagues, in fact, is so intertwined today that it’s often nearly impossible to separate the contributions of one agency—and one nation—from the next.

The San Diego Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) brings together representatives of local, state, and federal agencies by developing, collecting, analyzing, and disseminating intelligence concerning terrorism matters and bringing to bear the most effective investigative tools to penetrate and neutralize identified terrorists and terrorist organizations. The mission of the San Diego is to protect San Diego and Imperial Counties and the United States against potential terrorist attacks. -
The San Diego Field Intelligence Group (FIG) works to meet current and emerging national security and criminal threats through proactive investigations. The strategic goal of the FIG is to build and sustain an enterprise-wide intelligence capability that provides useful, appropriate, and timely information and analysis to the intelligence and law enforcement communities.
- We participate in the FBI Counterintelligence Strategic Partnerships Program, which builds relationships between private industry, academia, government agencies, the FBI, and its counterintelligence community partners to identify and protect projects of great importance to the U.S. government.

The San Diego InfraGard Chapter is the local arm of a national information-sharing alliance between private industry, academia, and government focused on protecting critical national infrastructures against attack from foreign and domestic threats. It supports all FBI investigative programs, especially counterterrorism, counterintelligence, and cyber crime. The Border Liaison Program has created a working relationship with Mexican officials, as well as all U.S. entities with responsibility for border security and international investigations. It closely coordinates bi-national investigations with its Mexican counterparts.

The Computer and Technology Crime High-Tech Response Team (CATCH) is a multi-agency task force formed in June 2000 to apprehend and prosecute all criminals who use technology to prey on the citizens of San Diego and Imperial and Riverside Counties. CATCH is a cooperative law enforcement effort that includes investigators and vertical prosecutors from 16 agencies. It works closely with other high-tech task forces and the private sector.

The San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force helps state and local law enforcement agencies enhance their investigative response to offenders and pedophiles who use the Internet, online communication systems, or other computer technologies to sexually exploit children. Participating agencies include the San Diego Police Department, San Diego Sheriff’s office, FBI, Chula Vista Police, Naval Criminal Investigative Service, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Regional Computer Forensics Lab, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, District Attorney’s Office, and U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The Violent Crime Safe Streets Task Force (VCSSTF) identifies and targets for prosecution individuals and criminal enterprises involved in kidnappings, extortions, threats, murder for hire, bank robberies, commercial robberies, assaults on federal officers, fugitives, crimes aboard aircraft, crimes on high seas, crimes of violence against children, serial homicides, and other complex multi-jurisdictional violent crimes. The VCSSTF addresses the most violent criminal offenders/enterprises in San Diego and maintains and equips an effective cadre of experienced criminal investigators capable of responding 24/7.

The Violent Gangs Safe Streets Task Force (VGSSTF) identifies, disrupts, and dismantles violent gangs and emerging criminal enterprises that have a federal nexus and a compelling national interest. The task force focuses primarily on the most prolific and violent groups in its territory.

Founded in 1992, the Regional Auto Theft Team (RATT) responds to the rampant and continuing auto theft problem in San Diego. The RATT uses pro-active investigative methods and public education to reduce the incidence of vehicle and cargo theft.
