  • U.S. Ambassador to Moldova William H. Moser and Singerei Middle School Principal Elizaveta Corciuc cut the ribbon to inaugurate the school's new bathroom facilities Nov. 17. The construction of this new bathroom facility is part of a larger project to renovate facilities at eight rural schools in Moldova serving more than 2,500 students and totaling more than $430,000. The Government of Moldova requested the U.S. Embassy's assistance with the water and sanitation situation in rural areas of Moldova and identified the schools in the most needy situations for renovation of sanitary facilities. About 95 percent of rural schools in Moldova have only outside toilets on the cesspool, with no access to water and adequate sanitation. With EUCOM HA funding, the Office Of Defense Cooperation and Bilateral Affairs Office have completed sanitation projects at schools in Singerei, Chiperceni, Molesti, Vulcanesti, Cazaclia, Congaz, and Besalma.
