FLO's Crisis Management team provides Foreign Service employees and families with confidential guidance, referral, and assistance with:

Post Evacuations
During evacuations, FLO is the Department’s main point of contact for evacuees, providing guidance on allowances, regulations, housing, education and employment for family members. We coordinate with post management, regional bureaus and other offices to support the evacuated community. For questions about evacuations contact us at FLOAskEvacuations@state.gov

Personal Preparedness
FLO provides guidance and assistance to employees and families preparing for the possibility of a sudden departure from an overseas post. Unexpected departures can be the result of political unrest, a natural disaster, medical concerns or other personal matters.

Employee or family member death at overseas posts

Living Apart (including Separate Maintenance Allowances)

Members of Household (Family members NOT on official travel orders)

Guidance to Foreign-Born Spouses
