The bridge was assembled by the U.S. 502nd Engineer Company during "Iron Crossing," a combined training exercise conducted Aug. 6-10, 2006, both on and off the Campo Pond training area here. The exercise, which involved river and convoy operations, served as the second half of a mission rehearsal exercise the 502nd began in June 2006 with a similar crossing of the Rhein.
