Summer Intern Program
The Department of the Treasury offers a volunteer summer intern program for law students. Students selected as Summer Interns will work in Washington, DC, in one of the following offices:
- Assistant General Counsel for International Affairs
- Assistant General Counsel for Banking and Finance
- Assistant General Counsel for General Law, Ethics & Regulation
- International Tax Counsel
- Chief Counsel of the Office of Foreign Assets Control
- Chief Counsel, Office of Financial Stability
- Chief Counsel, Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau
- Chief Counsel, Bureau of Engraving and Printing
- Chief Counsel, Bureau of Public Debt
- Chief Counsel, United States Mint
- Chief Counsel, Financial Management Service

These internships offer an opportunity to improve research and writing skills, to observe the practice of law in a major cabinet agency, and to learn about substantive areas of the law by dealing with issues faced by Treasury lawyers and their clients. We expect a ten-week commitment from our Summer Interns.

Those applicants who are invited to interview may be asked to submit a writing sample and transcript.
The application deadline for internships for the summer of 2012 is November 30, 2011, for second year law students and December 7, 2011, for first year law students.
