Archival and Special Collections

The CARL archives contains a number of separate collections described below. Most materials do not circulate. Access to some collections is controlled for a variety of reasons.

 

CARL Digital Library

The digital library has many collections of our publications, including CGSC Annual Reports, Infantry and Cavalry School Lectures, digitized books from our Special Collections, CSI and CGSC Press publications, which are available in full-text.

 

Finding Aids

The staff of the Combined Arms Research Library has created a variety of finding aids to introduce some of the resources available in the CARL. While the lists are not comprehensive, they are a starting point from which students can begin their research.

Bibliographies and Special Lists

Resources for topics and regions studied at CGSC some are older versions of current & historical topics.

This finding aid only describes the major microform collections, in order to do a thorough search, please also check CARLs online catalog.

Military Publications Page

Military publications are Army publications that include but are not limited to General Orders, Regulations, Field Manuals, Technical Manuals, Tables of Organization and Equipment, and other, similar documents. They represent the Army’s official orders, doctrine, guidance and practice in effect at specific points of history.
