This electromagnetic spectrum is the full range of all frequencies that make up electromagnetic radiation in the environment. For example, each time a person uses a cell phone, unlocks a vehicle with a remote device, opens a garage door remotely, accesses wireless Internet or microwaves a meal, the person is using electromagnetic spectrum.

Derek was an Army explosives ordnance disposal expert who was killed in Afghanistan on Aug. 17, 2010, but on Sunday, the Route 20 Bridge in Nassau was named the Staff Sergeant Derek Farley Memorial Bridge.

    Twenty four of the Army's Soldiers began the second day of 2012 Best Warrior Competition with a written examination, followed by a day land navigation event, uniform preparation and night urban orienteering. The day navigation event was arguably the highlight of the day. Soldiers were required to use a compass, map and protractor in locating five points within a three-hour period. The traditional land navigation event has not been included in Best Warrior since 2008.

  • Army North, Mexican military leaders meet in Mexico City

    Lt. Gen. William Caldwell IV, commanding general, U.S. Army North, met with Mexican counterparts Oct. 11 in Mexico City. While there, Caldwell thanked Mexican Gen. Guillermo Galvan for his role improving relations and interoperability between the two militaries during his tenure as the Mexican equivalent to the Secretary of Defense. Caldwell presented a certificate to Galvan during a ceremony at Secretaria de la Defensa Nacional headquarters Oct. 11 in Mexico City. Five Mexican army medical corps officers were presented certificates for their actions Sept. 19 when they helped to save the life of a local San Antonio man during dinner at a landmark San Antonio restaurant. The visiting doctors were eating dinner at the Tower of the Americas in downtown San Antonio when a man at a nearby table collapsed onto the floor. They quickly reacted and helped to save the choking man. Galvan will be relinquishing command at the end of the year.

The presence of all members of the garrison exemplified the Army's commitment to ensuring that Servicemembers, Families and Civilians were healthy and taken care of.

"The results achieved on 30 September of this year reflect the team's cumulative efforts since 1 October of last year."
