07/27/12 - Governor Quinn Signs Law to Increase Opportunity for Asian-Americans
New Employment Advisory Council to Promote More Diversity in State Government
CHICAGO – July 27, 2012. As part of his ongoing efforts to promote diversity in state government, Governor Pat Quinn today signed a new law creating the Asian-American Employment Plan Advisory Council. The council will focus on ways to encourage and assist Asian-Americans seeking employment in state government. The governor was joined by numerous legislators, community leaders and representatives from the Coalition for a Better Chinese American Community and the Asian American Policy Network.

03/12/12 - Governor Quinn Announces New NBC Production Coming to Chicago
Syndicated Daily Show “Steve Harvey” to be Produced in Chicago, Creating Jobs and Boosting Tourism
CHICAGO – March 12, 2012. Governor Pat Quinn today announced a new NBC production will be filmed in downtown Chicago. The new daily show, “Steve Harvey,” will be produced at NBC 5 studios and is expected to create around 100 jobs. NBCUniversal estimates that the show could bring approximately 35,000 audience members and visitors to Chicago each year.

08/13/11 - Governor Quinn Signs Bill Creating Commission to Research Disparity in the African-American Community
Commission Will Explore Inequalities Across a Wide Variety of Areas
CHICAGO – August 13, 2011. Governor Pat Quinn today signed House Bill 1547, creating the Commission to End the Disparities Facing the African-American Community. The commission will research the disparities facing African-Americans in the areas of healthcare, health services, employment, education, criminal justice, housing, and other social and economic issues. Its findings will be reported to the General Assembly.
