Partnerships

In this complex, globalized, post 9/11 world, our operational partnerships have never been more important to our efforts to protect your communities.

Today, we work with colleagues at every level of government—local, state, federal, even international—across the law enforcement, intelligence, and first responder communities. We lead and take part in multi-agency task forces, intelligence groups and fusion centers, and public and private sector alliances. A number of our partners literally sit shoulder-to-shoulder with us in FBI space, just as we share our agents and analysts with other agencies. We work closely on joint investigations—sometimes taking the lead, sometimes taking a back seat to others, sometimes contributing equally among many agencies. Our work with our colleagues, in fact, is so intertwined today that it’s often nearly impossible to separate the contributions of one agency—and one nation—from the next.

In Baltimore, our major partnerships include:

  • The Maryland Joint Terrorism Task Force brings together representatives of local, state, and federal agencies to run down any and all terrorism leads, develop and investigate cases, provide support for special events, and proactively identify threats that may impact the area and the nation.
  • The Baltimore Field Intelligence Group, a team of FBI agents and analysts who provide a full range of intelligence support on terrorism and criminal threats, combines with the multi-agency Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center (MCAC), which supports law enforcement and intelligence partners in counties across the state.
  • The Baltimore Division participates in the FBI Strategic Partnerships Program, a national partnership between private industry, academia, government agencies, the FBI, and its counterintelligence community partners to identify and protect projects of great importance to the U.S. government. For more information, contact Special Agent Michael D. Snyder at (410) 277-6469 or michael.d.snyder@ic.fbi.gov or PSC Stanley Moody at (410) 277-6566 or stanley.moody@ic.fbi.gov.
  • To battle cyber crime, we have a number of key partnerships:
    • Project Safe Childhood is a coordinated effort with our state and local partners to protect children from sexual exploitation.
    • The Baltimore InfraGard Chapter is the local arm of a national information-sharing alliance between private industry, academia, and government focused on protecting critical national infrastructures in both the online and offline worlds.
  • We also lead or take part in several major partnerships targeting violent crime and gangs:
    • The Baltimore Safe Streets Task Force combines our agents, the Baltimore Police Department, and the Maryland State Police to target violent gang members and drug traffickers in the Baltimore metropolitan area. We also conduct joint investigations with other federal agencies—such as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Drug Enforcement Administration—as well as Baltimore metro area local departments, including the Baltimore County and Anne Arundel Police Departments.
    • Our Baltimore Violent Crimes Task Force teams detectives from the Baltimore Police Department and Baltimore County Police Department with our agents to pool expertise and resources in targeting significant violent crimes, including kidnappings, armored carrier and bank robberies, extortions, and fugitive felons.
    • The Prince George’s County Violent Crimes and Safe Streets Task Force partners our agents with detectives from the Prince George’s County Police Department and Sheriff’s Office to combine knowledge and resources to investigate violent gangs and those committing significant violent crimes, including kidnappings, armored carrier and bank robberies, extortions, narcotic violations, and fugitive felons.
