Fathers
Supporting Breastfeeding is an FNS project targeted to African
American fathers so that they may positively impact a mother’s
decision to breastfeed. The
project is part of a continual effort to increase breastfeeding
initiation and duration rates among African American women by
involving fathers in breastfeeding promotion efforts.
Target Audience:
African American fathers.
Also appropriate for other male groups.
Materials
can be ordered online.
Materials include: 2 posters, 2 educational brochures, and
a video with a discussion guide.
The accompanying materials are designed to promote
breastfeeding awareness and to support and strengthen the role of
fathers in the family.
Materials are available at no cost and as long as supplies
last. However, due to overwhelming response to the
materials, we reserve the right to limit quantities per order.
Materials can only be shipped to the United States and their
territories. No International Orders.
Allow for 6 - 8 weeks for delivery after your order is submitted.

The video tells the story of Jason, a young, urban
(soon-to-be) father who learns about the benefits of
breastfeeding as he and his partner, Reena, near the end
of her pregnancy and approach the birth of their
baby. Their story addresses the issues and concerns
that many couples face when making the decision to
breastfeed their baby.

Discussion Guide - FNS 358
This facilitated discussion guide, complements the
video. Each viewer should receive his own copy, as
it provides specific questions, exercises and a notes
section that, when used in a group setting, can encourage
open dialog about breastfeeding among groups of young
African American fathers.
