Workers in the weatherization industry may be exposed to potential electrical hazards present in their work environment, which makes them more vulnerable to the danger of electrocution and arc flash hazards. Equipment used for blow-on/spray-on applications may require the use of long electrical cords or extension cords that can be subject to wear. It is important to inspect all electrical lines and maintain them in good working order.

Specifically because some materials such as styrene and components of SPF are flammable, it is essential that employers ensure that electrical equipment provided to workers is safe for use in hazardous (classified) locations and must be maintained properly to prevent sparking or ignition of the flammable vapors when installing this material. All electrical wiring, including extension cords, needs to be maintained properly to ensure safe working conditions. Employers must comply with OSHA's electrical standards to protect workers from these hazards.
