Adrian Popescu

Adrian Popescu is a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Energy Research Group. He received a B.S. in Physics from the University of Bucharest, Romania and a Ph. D. in Applied Physics from the University of South Florida. His doctoral research focused on investigating the theory of long range interactions in carbon nanotubes and on modeling the design of nanoscale devices and applications. Adrian is working with Paul Haney to perform first principles calculations of voltage-driven and temperature-driven electronic transport at semiconductor interfaces in order to identify materials with enhanced thermoelectric performance.

Selected Publications:

  • Chirality dependent carbon nanotube interactions, A. Popescu, L. M. Woods, and I. V. Bondarev, Physical Review B 83, 081406 (2011).
  • Enhanced thermoelectricity in composites by electronic structure modifications and nanostructuring, A. Popescu and L. M. Woods, Applied Physics Letters 97, 052102 (2010).
  • Telescopic hot double wall carbon nanotube for nanolithography, A. Popescu and L. M. Woods, Applied Physics Letters 95, 203507 (2009).
