International Conference on Afghanistan: Press Credentialing Procedures

On March 31, the Netherlands will host the “International Conference on Afghanistan: A Comprehensive Strategy in a Regional Context” at the World Forum in The Hague.

According to the Conference website, https://afghanistanconference2009.minbuza.nl, Afghan President Hamid Karzai and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon are expected to come to The Hague. The ministerial discussion will be co-chaired by Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Afghanistan Kai Eide, Afghan Minister of Foreign Affairs Rangin Dadfar Spanta, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Maxime Verhagen.

Press credentials are required, and the deadline to apply with the Netherlands Foreign Ministry is 6:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, March 24. The online application form is available at the link below. In addition to submitting the credential application to the host nation, please notify the State Department at Press@state.gov if you plan to attend so we can assist the hosts with their logistical preparations. The Press Office does not have any additional information on the conference.
