11/3: Owl Prowl - Soldiers Delight Natural Environment Area
Participants will follow a naturalist on a one-mile hike and listen for and try to call out owls. Later we will discuss basic biology, habitat, diet, and conservation. Captive owls from our aviary will be on-hand for educational assistance. Suitable for families and individual adult patrons alike. Meet at visitor center. Rain or shine. 11/3: Hidden in Plain Sight: Telling Patapsco's Story Through Its Historical Artifacts - Patapsco Valley State Park
Where did Indians find shelter along the Patapsco River? Where was the first railroad track laid along the River? How did the Daniels Dam provide its power to Elysville Mill? What are those cutouts in the granite wall for? Why is that pile of granite in the river? Join a Volunteer Ranger as he uncovers for you the interesting stories of life and commerce in the Patapsco River Valley. Artifacts hidden in plain sight will stimulate your imagination and enable you to see history in a new way. This easy walk on level ground will cover about 3 miles.
