Heidelberg MPs collar unit-level softball title

Heidelberg’s 529th Military Police Co. downed U.S. Army Garrison-Kaiserslautern 17-12 in Sunday’s if-game of the 2012 Army-Europe Unit-Level slow-pitch softball tournament at Grafenwoehr, according to Chris Cornelison of the Army’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation division.
The K-town contingent, which downed an AFRICOM team from Stuttgart 12-9 in Sunday morning’s losers-bracket final, forced the winner-take-all finale by dumping the MPs 22-15 in Sunday’s first title-game. K-town, however, fell short in its third game of the day.
The Army-Europe community-level siftball tournament is scheduled for Thursday-Sunday at Grafenwoehr.
