Publication year:

ANNOTATION: This study presents a clearer picture of prison rape by examining what inmates have to say regarding their safety. IN FACT, “goals, contexts, and requests included in inmates’ correspondence” to the National Prison Rape Elimination Commission (NPREC) are identified (p.57). Findings are presented according to issues directly associated with the victimization (victimization being reported by a staff member having the highest percentage) and issues not directly associated with the victimization (the highest percentage going to nonspecific requests for assistance).
