On Saturday, September 29th there will be a Free Medical Clinic for the Uninsured at the Dallas Convention Center. Volunteers – both medical and non-medical – are still needed! For more information and to register to volunteer visit www.nafcclinics.org. Uninsured patients are encouraged to call 1-800-340-1301 to schedule an appointment between 10am – 6pm. Walk-ins will be seen on a first-come first-serve basis, as resources are available. In addition to general medical services for adults, there will also be CHILDREN’s vaccinations from 10am-1pm as well as Children’s eye exams.

I always knew I wanted to serve others, just not a hamburger. After eight years in construction and four in college, I am finally following my dreams toward social service with non-profits. AmeriCorps Vista program made this possible for me, selecting me for a one year paid internship in which I can establish a presence in the social service industry. Finally I will use my skills and knowledge to address the issues of a disadvantaged population that I am passionate about, on the Navajo Indian reservation. I am grateful that the job comes with health insurance and child-care assistance, plus a relocation allowance. I am excited about starting my new job, and recommend this program for college graduates who are interested in social service and looking for a way in!
