Emergency Planning and Response

In addition to conducting regional emergency response planning activities, emergency preparedness activities, inspection of oil storage facilities, and oil and chemical spill emergency actions, this Branch oversees short-term cleanups in New England. By implementing plans and coordinating activities, EPA New England supports and supplements the efforts of local, state, and private resources to mitigate emergencies. Under the National Contingency Plan the Federal Government has developed its National Response System to handle environmental emergencies.
