Anthony Novembre was the CNST NanoFab Manager in the NanoFab Operations Group. He left the CNST in August 2008 for a position as the Associate Director at the Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials at Princeton University.

Ted Vorburger, Acting CNST Deputy Director
Ted Vorburger was the Acting CNST Deputy Director in the Center Office. He left the CNST in April 2008 to resume his position as a Group Leader in the Precision Engineering Division of the Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory at NIST.

Andrew Berglund, Project Leader
Andrew Berglund was a Project Leader in the CNST Nanofabrication Research Group studying fluctuations and nanoscale control. He specialized in developing experimental and theoretical tools to measure, analyze and control random processes. He left the CNST in January 2012 for a position as a Senior Data Scientist at Quantifind in Palo Alto, CA.

Kyung-Jin Lee, CNST Visiting Fellow
Kyung-Jin Lee was a CNST Visiting Fellow in the Electron Physics Group collaborating with Mark Stiles on a number of projects, including modeling spin transfer torque in systems with large spin-orbit coupling while on sabbatical leave from Korea University. He left the CNST in July 2012 to return to Korea University as a Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.

David R. Penn, CNST Visiting Fellow
David Penn was a CNST Visiting Fellow in the Electron Physics Group. He left the CNST in July to continue his research in the Ultraviolet Radiation Group of the Sensor Science Division at NIST.

Ben Shapiro, CNST Visiting Fellow
Ben Shapiro was a CNST Visiting Fellow in the CNST Nanofabrication Research Group working with J. Alexander Liddle on feedback control of electro-osmotic flow for nanoparticle manipulation. He left the CNST in February 2012 to resume his full-time position as an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, College Park in the Department of Aerospace Engineering.

Molly Gentleman, CNST Visiting Fellow
Molly Gentleman was a CNST Visiting Fellow in the Energy Research Group, working with Fred Sharifi on Raman Spectroscopy. She left the CNST in July 2011 to resume her position as an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Texas A&M University.

Claudia Mewes, CNST Visiting Fellow
Claudia Mewes was a CNST Visiting Fellow in the Electron Physics Group working with Mark Stiles on the design and optimization of new materials with low damping and high spin polarization for spintronics and non-volatile spinlogic. She left the CNST in July 2011 to resume her position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Alabama.

Tim Mewes, CNST Visiting Fellow
Tim Mewes was a CNST Visiting Fellow in the Electron Physics Group working with Bob McMichael on spin wave Doppler measurements to determine the polarization of current in magnetic materials, and on ferromagnetic resonance force microscopy. He left the CNST in July 2011 to resume his position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Alabama.

Luca Sapienza, CNST Visiting Fellow
Luca Sapienza was a CNST Visiting Fellow in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Kartik Srinivasan on spectroscopic measurements of single quantum dots in nanophotonic structures. He left the CNST in July 2011 for a position as a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Physics at Heriot-Watt University in Scotland.

John Weiner, CNST Visiting Fellow
John Weiner was a CNST Visiting Fellow in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Henri Lezec on the design, fabrication, and characterization of nanoscale optical resonator arrays. He left the CNST in December 2010 for retirement

Tomohiro Matsui, CNST Visiting Fellow
Tomohiro Matsui was a CNST Visiting Fellow in the Electron Physics Group working with Joseph Stroscio on measuring the electronic properties of graphene at ultra-low temperatures and high magnetic fields. He left the CNST in July 2010 to resume his position as an Assistant Professor of Physics at Tokyo University in Japan.

Jacques Miltat, CNST Visiting Fellow
Jacques Miltat was a CNST Visiting Fellow in the Electron Physics Group working with Mark Stiles on theoretical studies of nanomagnetism and magnetic imaging. After his sabbatical, he left the CNST in December 2009 to resume his position as a Researcher - Experimentalist in Imaging and Dynamics in Magnetism at the Unversity of Paris-Sud in France.

Young Kuk, CNST Visiting Fellow
Young Kuk was a CNST Visiting Fellow in the Electron Physics Group working with Joseph Stroscio on the development and applications of ultra-low temperature scanning probe microscopy. He left the CNST in August 2009 to resume his position as a Professor of Physics at Seoul National University in Korea.

Kamil Ekinci, CNST Visiting Fellow
Kamil Ekinci was a CNST Visiting Fellow in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Vladimir Aksyuk on the development of super-hydrophobic cantilevers. After his sabbatical, he left the CNST in August 2009 to return to his position as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Boston University.

John Hartley, CNST Visiting Fellow
John Hartley was a CNST Visiting Fellow working with members of the Nanofabrication Research Group and the NanoFab Operations Group on developing diagnostics for the NanoFab electron-beam lithography systems. He left the CNST in June 2009 to resume his position as a Professor of Engineering at the University at Albany-SUNY.

Siu Au Lee, CNST Visiting Fellow
Siu Au Lee was a CNST Visiting Fellow in the Electron Physics Group working with Jabez McClelland on laser cooling of erbium and single rare-earth dopants. After her sabbatical, she left the CNST in May 2007 to return to her position as a Professor in the Physics Department at Colorado State University.

Pramod Mathai, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Pramod Mathai was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the CNST Nanofabrication Research Group working with J. Alexander Liddle and Ben Shapiro where he developed microfluidic and electrokinetic techniques for manipulating colloidal nanoparticles.  He left the CNST in August 2012 for a position as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Bioengineering Department at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Zhao Deng, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Zhao Deng was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Rachel Cannara studying the origins of nanoscale friction by varying the thermal properties of materials.  He left the CNST in August 2012 for a position as a Research Scientist at Houghton International Inc. 

Kan Du, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Kan Du was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Andrew Berglund on the development of new methods for tracking and monitoring fluorescent nanoparticles using real-time feedback control. He left the CNST in July 2012 for a position as a Development Engineer at JDS Uniphase.

Maxim Abashin, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Maxim Abashin was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Henri Lezec on the implementation and improvement of nanophotonic measurement methods for studying visible-frequency metamaterials, nanoscale optical phenomena, and plasmonic devices. He left the CNST in June 2012 for a position as an Instrument Engineer at Innovim in Greenbelt, MD.

Shaffique Adam, NRC Postdoctoral Research Associate
Shaffique Adam was a NRC Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Electron Physics Group working with Mark Stiles on theoretical studies of the electronic properties of graphene and other nanostructures. He left the CNST in June 2012 for a position as an Assistant Professor of Science and National Research Foundation Fellow at the Yale-NUS College in Singapore.

Houxun Miao, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Houzun Miao was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Vladimir Akskyuk on the development of optical MEMS and NEMS devices. He left the CNST in May 2012 for a position at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute at NIH.

Han-Jong Chia, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Han-Jong Chia was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Electron Physics Group working with Bob McMichael to develop a ferromagnetic resonance force microscope to measure dynamic properties of magnetic nanostructures. He left the CNST in April 2012 for a position in the R&D group at Everspin Technologies.

Nikolai Klimov, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Nikolai Klimov was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher working jointly in the Electron Physics Group in the CNST and the Fundamental Electrical Measurements Group in the Physical Measurement Laboratory. He left the CNST in March 2012 for a  position as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Physical Measurement Laboratory at NIST, where he continues to collaborate with the CNST.

Adam Berro, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Adam Berro was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with J. Alexander Liddle to develop fluorescence techniques for the measurement of acid diffusion in photoresists with single molecule resolution. He left the CNST in March 2012 for a position as a post-doctoral researcher in the Polymers Division at NIST.

Suyong Jung, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Suyong Jung was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Energy Research Group working with Nikolai Zhitenev studying nanoscale fabrication techniques for novel electronic materials, and studying electronic transport in nanoscale organic and inorganic devices. He left the CNST in March 2012 for a position as a Staff Scientist at the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science in Daejeon, Korea.

Prakash Palanisamy, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Prakash Palanisamy was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Renu Sharma to measure the thermodynamics and kinetics of carbon nanotube growth, in-situ, using an environmental TEM. He left the CNST in March 2012 for a position as an Engineer at Intel Corporation.

Stefano Mazzucco, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Stefano Mazzucco was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Renu Sharma on integrating Raman Spectroscopy with Transmission Electron Microscopy and studying the catalytic properties of metal nanoparticles. He left the CNST in September 2011 to explore career opportunities in Europe.

Stephan Koev, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Stephan Koev was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Vladimir Aksyuk on optical MEMS and NEMS for several applications, including nearfield imaging, Casimir force measurement, and surface plasmon coupling. After leaving the CNST in September 2011, he took a position as a software engineer at REI Systems.

Amit Agrawal, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Amit Agrawal was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Henri Lezec on the development of measurement methods for studying the novel electromagnetic properties of plasmonic nanostructures and metamaterials. He left the CNST in September 2011 for a position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University in New York.

Ben McMorran, CNST Postdoctoral Researcher
Ben McMorran was a CNST Postdoctoral Researcher in the Electron Physics Group working with John Unguris on the nanoscale analysis and imaging of magnetic materials and with Henri Lezec on the development of electron vortex beams carrying orbital angular momentum for new methods in high resolution electron microscopy. He left the CNST in August 2011 for a position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Oregon.

Sukumar Rajauria, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Sukumar Rajauria was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Vladimir Aksyuk on the use of NEMS in a variety of applications. He left the CNST in June 2011 for a position as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Jaime Juarez, Graduate Student Researcher
Jaime Juarez was a Graduate Student Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Alexander Liddle on using feedback-controlled electric fields to fabricate collodial crystals from an ensemble of colloid particles. He left the CNST in May 2011 continue his studies as a doctoral candidate in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.

Young Jae Song, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Young Jae Song was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Electron Physics Group working with Joseph Stroscio on the construction of an ultra-low temperature ultra-high vacuum scanning tunneling microscope. He left the CNST in January 2011 for a position as a Research Scientist at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology to be followed by a position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at Sungkyunkwan University in Korea.

Ceren Susut, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Ceren Susut was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Energy Research Group working with Alec Talin on the developing new tools and integrated measurement systems to characterize nanoelectrochemical energy storage and conversion devices. She left the CNST in December 2010 for a position as a Physical Scientist in the Office of Advanced Scientific Computing Research in the Office of Science at the Department of Energy.

Matthew Rakher, CNST Postdoctoral Researcher
Matthew Rakher was a CNST Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Kartik Srinivasan on the development of new tools and methods for optical spectroscopy of nanoscale systems. He left the CNST in December 2010 for a position as a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Physics at Universität Basel in Switzerland.

Hua Xu, CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher
Hua Xu was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Energy Research Group working with Nikolai Zhitenev to develop new measurement methods for studying electronic transport in nanoscale organic/inorganic devices. He left the CNST in November 2010 for a position as a Senior Software Engineer at Brion Technologies, Inc. (ASML Co.).

Gregory Rutter, NRC Postdoctoral Researcher
Gregory Rutter was a NRC Postdoctoral Researcher in the Electron Physics Group working with Joseph Stroscio on the dynamics of atom manipulation, the properties of dilute magnetic semiconductors, and the electronic properties of epitaxial graphene. He left the CNST in November 2010 for a position as a Process Engineer at Intel Corporation.

Behrang Hamadani was a CNST Postdoctoral Researcher in the Energy Research Group working with Nikolai Zhitenev on the development of new measurement methods based on scanning probe impedance spectroscopy. He left the CNST in November 2010 for a position as a Physicist in the Engineering Laboratory (EL) at NIST.

He left the CNST in June 2010 to continue his studies as a doctoral candidate in the Department of Physics at the University of Regensburg in Germany.

Kevin Kubista was a Visiting Graduate Student Researcher in the Electron Physics Group working with Joseph Stroscio on measurements of the structural and electronic properties of graphene. He left the CNST in May 2010 to continue his studies as a doctoral candidate in Physics at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Kenneth Chau was a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Henri Lezec on the development of novel volumetric metamaterials and measurement methods for studying the electromagnetic properties of plasmonic nanostructures. He left the CNST in September 2009 for a position as an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of British Columbia in Canada.

He left the CNST in August 2009 for a position as a Physicist at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Carderock, MD.

Jeffrey Strahan, Graduate Student Researcher
Jeffrey Strahan was a Graduate Student Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Alexander Liddle on long-wavelength-sensitive molecular resist materials to measure field intensities on nanoplasmonic structures. He left the CNST in November 2008 to continue his studies as a doctoral candidate in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Texas at Austin.

Gila Stein was a CNST Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Alexander Liddle on the development of new measurement methods for studying image formation in self-assembling resists for nanolithography. She left the CNST in October 2008 for a position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Houston.

Keith Gilmore was a CNST Postdoctoral Researcher in the Electron Physics Group working with Mark Stiles on the theory of both field and current induced magnetization dynamics in non-colinear systems. He left the CNST in October 2008 for a position as a NRC Postdoctoral Researcher in the Physics Laboratory at NIST.

James Hanssen was a CNST Postdoctoral Researcher in the Electron Physics Group working with Jabez McClelland on the development of a new ion source based on laser cooled neutral atoms. He left the CNST in September 2008 for a position as a Staff Physicist at the U.S. Naval Observatory.

Emily Jarvis was a CNST Postdoctoral Researcher in the Electron Physics Group working with Mark Stiles on the structure of graphene grown on silicon carbide. She left the CNST in September 2008 for a position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Gordon College.

Christian Heilinger was a CNST Postdoctoral Researcher in the Electron Physics Group working with Mark Stiles on spin transfer torque in Fe/MgO/Fe tunnel junctions. He left the CNST in July 2008 for a position as an Assistant Professor at Justus-Leibig Universitaet Giessen in Germany.

Shannon Hill was a CNST Visiting Fellow in the Electron Physics Group working with Jabez McClelland on developing a deterministic source of single atoms and a magneto-optical trap ion source. He left the CNST in January 2008 for a position as a Physicist in the Physics Laboratory at NIST.

Nathan Guisinger was a NRC Postdoctoral Researcher in the Electron Physics Group working with Joseph Stroscio on characterizing the growth and properties of graphene on silicon carbide. He left the CNST in November 2007 for a position as a Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory.

Cory Latham, Student Researcher
Cory Latham was a Student Researcher in the Energy Research Group. Cory was working with Fred Sharifi characterizing a recently developed instrument designed to measure thermal and electronic properties of nanostructured thermoelectric materials. He left the CNST in August 2012 to continue his education as a student in the Science, Math, and Computer Science Magnet Program at Poolesville High School in Poolesville, MD.

Parakh Jain, Undergraduate Researcher
Parakh Jain was an Undergraduate Researcher in the Energy Research Group working with Paul Haney on modeling the electronic and thermal transport properties of organic photovoltaic cells and thermoelectric materials. He left the CNST in May 2012 to continue his studies as an undergraduate in the Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Pedram Roushan, Visiting Graduate Student Researcher
Pedram Roushan was a Visiting Graduate Student Researcher in the Electron Physics Group working with Joseph Stroscio on scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy of topological insulators at strong magnetic fields. He left the CNST in January 2012, and is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Physics, at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Valery Leng was a Summer High School Intern in the Electron Physics Group working with Shaffique Adam and Mark Stiles theoretically calculating the electronic properties of graphene bilayers in which the two layers are rotated with respect to each other. She left the CNST in November 2011 to continue her education in the Science, Math and Computer Science Magnet program at Poolesville High School in Poolesville, MD.

Peter Phelps, CNST/UMD Research Assistant
Peter Phelps was a CNST/UMD Research Assistant in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Vladimir Aksyuk on supplementing nanomanipulation devices with haptic feedback. He left the CNST in September 2011 to pursue his PhD in the Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Zeshan Tariq was a Summer High School Intern in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Vladimir Aksyuk on data analysis, modeling, and automation of experiments involving of MEMS and NEMS devices. He left the CNST in August 2011 to begin his undergraduate education at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Katherine Freeman was an Undergraduate Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group working with Henri Lezec using Raman spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy to measure the properties of metamaterials and silicon carbide. She left the CNST in July 2011 to continue her studies as an undergraduate in Nuclear Engineering and Mathematics at North Carolina State University.

Timothy Lee was an Undergraduate Researcher in the Energy Research Group working with Alec Talin to measure structure-property relationships in nanowires for battery applications. He left the CNST in May 2011 to attend graduate school in Material Science Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.

He left the CNST in August 2009 to continue his education in the Science, Math and Computer Science Magnet program at Poolesville High School in Poolesville, MD.

Chenyu Zhao was a Student Intern in the Electron Physics Group working with Mark Stiles on calculating domain wall motion in the presence of disorder.
