How does smoking weed when you are pregnant alter your kids DNA?      Janice Berliner, M.S., C.G.C.: I am a cancer genetic counselor, performing genetic risk assessment and counseling for cancer patients and those at risk for cancer. it doesn't. Smoking, drinking, drugs and medications can affect a pregnancy in many bad ways, but they don't alter the DNA, they alter the embryological development. East Haven High School in CT (10th grade student)
