Considering some recent studies show that epigenetic traits can be inherited, is there any interest in starting an epigenome project? It seems like an incredibly daunting task.

Actually, you are exactly right that it's a good idea to study the epigenome. The NIH Roadmap for Medical Research, which is an initiative that coordinates research that no one of the 27 institutes and centers that make up NIH would be able to do alone, launched an epigenomics program just last year.
