The French (Laboratoire Central des Ponts et Chaussees) 80-kg Thermoregulated Mixer is used to mix asphalt concrete for slabs and other large specimens. The mixer can mix up to 80 kg of asphalt paving mixture in a single batch. The mixer can maintain a temperature up to a maximum of 240 ° C. The mixing action is epicycloidal. An auger turns and rotates eccentrically, while a scraper rod rotates around the side of the bowl. The mixing time is generally less than 180 s. A smaller, 25-kg mixer is also available in France. The 80-kg Thermoregulated Mixer costs $80,000.
