RANGELAND HEALTH ASSESSMENT EVALUATION

The purpose of a Rangeland Health Assessment Evaluation is to summarize, analyze and interpret monitoring information that has been collected throughout the evaluation period to determine if livestock, wild horse and wildlife use within the allotment are achieving the land use plan objectives and the rangeland health standards and guidelines.  Actual use, utilization, use pattern maps vegetation productions, ecological status and line intercept are used to assess each key management area within the allotment  In addition, ecological site inventory, proper functioning condition (PFC), water quality, wild horse census and precipitation data are collected.  Monitoring studies are conducted in accordance with the Nevada Rangeland Monitoring Handbook, other BLM and interagency technical references.  The evaluation will also identify proposed management actions deemed necessary to ensure attainment of the rangeland health standards and guidelines.
