Making Investments in Infrastructure
In the Chicagoland region we rely on a sophsticated highway system, public transit, airports, and more to ensure that goods and services are able to flow freely to and frm our region. This is important for the local economy and for jobs as long-term construction projects employ people right here in our communities.
Below are actions I have taken to invest in infrastructure and create more jobs here at home:
- Supported several bills which invest in domestic oil production infrastructure and put people in America back to work. (H.R. 1938, H.R. 1229, H.R. 1230, and H.R. 2021; Status- Passed the House of Representatives)
- Met with stakeholders before the transportation press conference to ensure that Illinois’ voice is heard in transportation debate.
- Signed a letter to President Obama expressing support for a long-term transportation bill.
- Support extension of the Route 53 tollway.
- Keynoted the Transportation Management Authority of Lake County annual meeting.
- Facilitated the Waukegan Harbor clean-up which will create jobs and enhance commerce in our local communities.
- Led the House effort to protect mass transit funding in the House Transportation bill.
