Office of Governmentwide Acquisition Policy

The mission of the Office of Government-wide Acquisition Policy is to foster innovation, operational excellence and trust in federal agency acquisition activities through the promulgation of regulations, policies and guidance that allow federal agencies to meet their core mission.The office also provides transparency into the regulatory programs of all federal agencies. The Federal Acquisition Policy Division, the Regulatory Secretariat Division and the Regulatory Information Service Center (RISC) make up the divisions within the Office of Government-wide Acquisition Policy.

On behalf of the General Services Administration, the Federal Acquisition Policy Division, in conjunction with Department of Defense (DOD) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), write the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), the rule book for all federal agency procurements that governs the billions of contract dollars expended by the Government every year.

The Regulatory Secretariat Division prepares, compiles, and processes government-wide as well as agency specific regulations and general notices for publication in the Federal Register.

RISC facilitates public participation in the regulatory programs of agencies through reginfo.gov, which provides public access to information about federal regulatory activities. Its principal publications are the Unified Agenda and The Regulatory Plan.
