2008-2012 Chosen as Official Iditarod Centennial
First scouted in 1908, the Iditarod Trail was completed by crews working through mid-winter temperatures of -50°F in 1910 and 1911.
From January 2008 through October 2012, the Iditarod National Historic Trail Centennial Parthership, led by the Iditarod Historic Trail Alliance, developed and implemented a 5-year, public-private commemoration of the Trail's Centennial. This noprofit membership organization accomplished a number of Centennial Legacy projects that will significantly benefit the Trail for the next 100 years. Read more>>
