STOCKTON - A job and resource fair - with a special emphasis on connecting military veterans and employers - is planned for Tuesday in Stockton.

Well over 50 employers, with hundreds of immediate openings in all sort of occupations and experience levels, are expected to attend the event at Spanos Center, University of the Pacific, 3601 Pacific Ave.

Veterans will be admitted beginning at 9:30 a.m. and all other job seekers are welcome beginning at 10 a.m. Doors close at 3 p.m. Also, organizers said a quarter of the employers are specifically looking to hire military veterans.

Among those slated to attend are Pacific Gas & Electric Co., Comcast Corp., The Wine Group, California Department of Corrections Health Care Services, Holt of California, The Home Depot, Eagle's Nest Harley-Davidson and Bankers Life and Casualty.

Available services will include hands-on résumé assistance and printing, retraining and apprenticeship opportunities, one-on-one interview coaching and a veterans employment resource center.

Sponsored by Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton, the state Economic Development Department and San Joaquin County WorkNet, entry is free.
