Using Recovery Act funding, contractors are cleaning up dozens of waste sites, including the 13-square-mile BC Control Area, located near the center of the Hanford Site (south of the 200 East Area). Contractor CH2M HILL Plateau Remediation Company and subcontractor Federal Engineers & Constructors are removing an estimated 180,000 tons of shallow soil contamination.
