Bridging Cultures through Law Film Series: I Came to Testify

March 21, 2012

I Came to Testify, a documentary about women testifying to the use of rape as a tactic of ethnic cleansing in the former Yugoslavia, is the focus of a White House panel discussion for law students.  Kelly Askin of the Open Society Justice Initiative moderated the panel discussion featuring filmmaker Pamela Hogan, Refik Hodzic of the International Center for Transitional Justice, American University Washington College of Law professor Diane Orentlicher, and Judge Patricia Wald, who sat on the ICTY. After the discussion and screening, guests attended a reception where Samantha Power, a Special Assistant to the President, shared her experiences as a young journalist and law student investigating the atrocities in Bosnia.
