ANNOTATION: National Institute of Justice-sponsored pilot programs that assist correctional agencies in detecting contraband and running safer facilities are described. Technologies tested include: a millimeter wave imaging system for scanning visitors for contraband; the WANDD (Weapons and Non-Permitted Devices Detector) portable sound wave contraband detector; and RFID (radio frequency identification) technology to track the movements of prisoners.
