Purpose:Purpose: The Lunar Calibration Workshop will bring together representatives from different communities to discuss the need to establish the Moon as an absolute calibration standard and solutions for how to do so. Emphasis will be on the reflected solar regions from 380 nm to 2500 nm. 2012 NIST Lunar Calibration Workshop
May 14-15, 2012 The NIST Lunar Calibration Workshop will be held at the NIST campus in Gaithersburg, Maryland on May 14-15, 2012. The first day will be devoted to identifying calibration needs, the current state of lunar calibrations at visible to short-wave infrared wavelengths, and lunar irradiance models. The second day will focus on how to establish improved calibrations that will meet the needs of various communities. There will be sessions on ground-based lunar observations, atmospheric monitoring for ground-based observations, and above-the-atmosphere calibrations. Our intent is to have a set of focused, technical presentations and include ample time for discussion. Pre-registration is required and acceptance is determined on a first-come, first-served basis. Who Should Attend:Experts in lunar metrology and calibrations using celestial objects; anyone with a well-defined calibration need that could be addressed by an absolute calibration of the Moon at visible to short-wave infrared wavelengths. We anticipate that most participants will be from the remote sensing community, but we encourage participation from other interested groups. Agenda:The tentative workshop agenda is: Monday, May 14, 2012:
