The Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Diversity Division directs the Department's EEO and Diversity policies, products, and services to optimize the effectiveness of the Department's personnel and operations.
We strive to ensure that all employees and applicants for employment enjoy equality of opportunity and employment decisions free from unlawful discrimination through the following activities:
- Rendering Final Agency Actions on EEO complaints. An employee, applicant, or former employee may file an EEO complaint to allege unlawful discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, physical or mental disability, protected genetic information, or reprisal based on prior EEO protected activity. Similarly, a complaint may be filed based on sexual orientation or parental status, which are protected by Executive Order.
- Examining barriers to employment and advancement in order to create an environment that is welcoming to all individuals, regardless of the bases mentioned above.
- Identifying strategies to meet the Department's Human Capital needs to recruit and maintain a world-class workforce reflective of our nation's diversity.
- Collaborating with the Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer (CHCO) and others to ensure that the Department maintains an environment that fully utilizes and recognizes the skills and abilities of people with disabilities.
