Dental

What benefits are available?

Answer:

The Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP) provides comprehensive dental insurance at competitive group rates. There are four nationwide dental plans and three regional dental plans from which to choose. Nationwide plans provide benefits for eligible employees and their families living overseas.

FEDVIP offers dental benefits to eligible individuals. These dental plans provide a comprehensive range of services including orthodontia (for children under the age of 19), routine exams, cleaning, x-rays, bridges, and crowns.

A dental insurance plan is much like a health insurance plan; you may be required to meet a deductible and provide a copay or coinsurance payments for your dental services. With any plan choice, you should look at all the information and find a plan that will best fit your needs. You should also review your FEHB plan brochure to determine what dental benefits the FEHB plan provides.

There are no pre-existing condition limitations, however, there may be specific plan exclusions or limitations.  Dental plans may have a waiting period for orthodontia services of up to 24 months. Your dependent must be enrolled in the same dental plan/option over the duration of the waiting period to receive orthodontia services.
