OLSON AGAIN VOTES TO REPEAL OBAMACARE LAW

Washington, DC– Rep.  Pete Olson (TX-22) today issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 6079, the Repeal of ObamaCare Act:

“Today, the House voted once again on behalf of the American people to repeal ObamaCare. A majority of Americans oppose this law, which moves our healthcare system in the wrong direction, transferring decisions about your family’s healthcare from you to Washington bureaucrats.  The federal government must not be allowed to interfere with what doctors you want to see and how you choose to spend your family’s healthcare dollars.

“ObamaCare creates unprecedented mandates, new taxes, expensive entitlement expansions, and adds unworkable and costly insurance provisions.  Equally importantly, this law fails to address the rising costs that place quality healthcare out of reach for many Americans.

"The Supreme Court ruled on the constitutionality of the law, but the People have the final say on whether it should remain intact.  I will continue every effort to full repeal ObamaCare in its entirety.  Then, step-by-step, we can replace it with thoughtful legislation, supported by the People, which will protect Americans’ access to the care they need, from the doctor they choose, at a lower cost."

Repealing ObamaCare removes the following provisions:

·         The individual mandate

·         Burdensome taxes, regulations, and mandates on businesses

·         Unsustainable Medicare cuts used to pay for new entitlement programs

·         Increased premiums with less flexibility and choices

·         Unelected government bureaucrats getting between patients and doctors

The final vote was 244-185.  Click here for a link to Olson's floor speech on repeal of ObamaCare.
