Pelosi Statement on Devastating Flooding in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Mississippi

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on the record-breaking flooding in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Mississippi that has killed at least 19 people: 

“The thoughts and prayers of the Congress are with the people of Tennessee, Kentucky, and Mississippi as they struggle with record-breaking flooding.  For families who have lost loved ones, the sympathies of all Americans are with them in these tragic times. 

“State and local government officials are working tirelessly to safely evacuate people and return communities to normalcy.  As the flood waters recede, Congress will work with those Members whose constituents have been affected by this tragedy to provide the assistance necessary.”
