Overview

Today there are 47 species of animals listed as endangered in Iowa and another 35 that are threatened. The biggest threat to endangered species is habitat loss. (NOTE: Some of the species shown are not listed under the federal Endangered Species Act, but are species of conservation concern within the state of Iowa.)
