How Big Is Mount St. Helens? |
---|
We used the same VolcanoCam image described from September 24, 2004, and added a few reference marks to show you just how big Mount St. Helens really is compared to some typical measurements. The width of the opening into the crater is more than one mile wide. The (old) lava dome you can see in the images is almost 1,000 feet high. The erosion channel through the pumice plain in the image foreground is several hundred feet deep. |
