H.R. 4273, the Resolving Environmental and Grid Reliability Conflicts Act of 2012
American Public Power, the organization representing the interests of over 46 million Americans who rely on electricity from publically owned utilities, agrees that conflicting legal mandates shouldn’t complicate an electricity crisis. That’s why the organization supports the bill I recently introduced, H.R. 4273, the Resolving Environmental and Grid Reliability Conflicts Act of 2012. This bill would prevent electricity generators from facing environmental fines and citizen lawsuits when the government forces them to operate to keep the lights on during an emergency. People should never have to choose which federal law to violate.
