Team UT-Battelle to build Habitat for Humanity home
OAK RIDGE, Tenn., May 15, 2001 — Employees of the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory, managed by UT-Battelle, LLC, will be constructing a home in the community of Heiskell in southeastern Anderson County beginning Saturday, May 19.
The volunteers will be working through the new program Team UT-Battelle that has been set up to support various community activities through volunteer efforts by ORNL employees in East Tennessee.
Organizers hope to have 20 UT-Battelle volunteers on hand each Saturday during the next three to four months to help in the construction. Volunteers representing different ORNL divisions have signed up to help.
Members of UT-Battelle's leadership team, headed by ORNL Director Bill Madia, will be on hand to start the construction effort Saturday.
The home is located on Den Drive near East Wolfe Valley Road. It is approximately 5 miles east of the intersection of U.S. 25W and Edgemoor Road.
