IG Report Highlights Holder’s Desire to be Kept in Dark

Department of Justice Inspector General: “When we asked Holder whether he believed that his staff should have informed him sooner about the connection between Fast and Furious and the firearms found at the scene of the Terry shooting, he said that he would not have expected to receive that information absent some indication that ‘inappropriate tactics’ had been used in the investigation. However, Holder’s Chief of Staff told us that he believed this information was significant and that it should have been brought to the Attorney General’s attention. We agree.” Continue reading

The House Oversight and Government Reform National Security Subcommittee, chaired by Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, will hold a hearing Thursday to hear from Department of Defense officials about allegations in a recent Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) report that nearly half-a-billion dollars are unaccounted for in a major Afghanistan reconstruction program and that program records were destroyed. NLRB IG: NLRB Acting General Counsel Accused of Ethical and Criminal Misconduct, Failed to Recuse Himself

Issa: “When Mr. Solomon, as a steward of taxpayer money, fails to disclose at the outset that he has a financial stake in a case he’s involved in, it calls into question his integrity and that of the agency. As a general counsel and career attorney, Mr. Solomon should know federal statute well enough to know when to recuse himself from a possible conflict of interest between his own finances and his work. Following a string of questionable decisions, including jeopardizing thousands of Boeing jobs in South Carolina at a new manufacturing facility; this is one more example of Mr. Solomon further tarnishing NLRB’s reputation.” Continue reading
