The President has declared a Federal emergency in all 55 counties of West Virginia, in response to the severe storms on Friday, June 29, which left many southern West Virginians without access to electricity, food and water, and other basic necessities, and vulnerable to extreme temperatures. The President's action authorizes the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide emergency generators, food and water, and other equipment and supplies to alleviate the impacts of the emergency.

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.) announced this morning he will visit communities in Raleigh, Fayette, Greenbrier, Mingo, and Monroe Counties today with the West Virginia National Guard and meet with officials in County Emergency Operations Centers for briefings and to tour damage to homes and businesses in areas hit by strong storms that swept through the region last Friday.
