8/3/2011 - U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- The Class of 2011 added nine new graduates to its ranks July 29 to wrap up the summer session's graduation and commissioning ceremony.
Air Force Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Mike Gould, the guest speaker for the ceremony, presented the diplomas to the new graduates, along with Brig. Gen. Dana Born, the Academy's dean of the faculty.
After receiving their diplomas, the Academy's newest graduates swore an oath of office and each had family members pin on their new rank.
These nine lieutenants bring the Air Force Academy's total number of graduates to 43,910 since the first graduating Class of 1959.
The graduates are 2nd Lts.:
-- Matthew Torrence of Tulsa, Okla.
-- Moises Rendon of San Jose, Calif.
-- Kimberly Burghardt of Wahiawa, Hawaii
-- Eric Collins II of Madison, Ala.
-- Elliot Noon of Alexandria, Va.
-- Gavin Fluhart of San Diego
-- Kevin Dandino of Colorado Springs
-- Ryan Darrohn of The Woodlands, Texas
-- Joseph Maloy of Kingsport, Tenn. |
