By marshaling resources for food security and by improving the way we do development, we're already making a difference in people’s lives. This week, the U.S. Government will unveil our first Feed the Future Progress Report, highlighting the progress achieved by the presidential intiative from May 2009 through May 2012.

This October 15 to October 19, from the UN Committee on World Food Security to the annual World Food Prize and World Food Day, the international community will continue to focus on food security. A variety of events will highlight Feed the Future, including progress on the initiative as well as the role of research.

Under the U.S. Government's global hunger and food security initiative, Feed the Future, the Bureau for Food Security at the U.S. Agency for International Development has launched a request for applications for global food security and hunger research that focuses on climate resilience, nutrition, and policy objectives under the Feed the Future Research Strategy.

During a high-level meeting on Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) on Thursday, USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah announced that USAID will continue to work to ensure that the principles and programmatic priorities of SUN are fully integrated across all relevant USAID-supported programs in food security, health, water and sanitation, education, and humanitarian assistance in 14 countries.
