  1. Yesterday afternoon, I had the great honor of welcoming the first group of Taiwanese citizens to visit the United States without a visa. In October, the United States accepted Taiwan into the State Department’s Visa Waiver Program and LAX rolled out the red carpet to welcome our newest guests in style.

    • So thankful for this moment in time! So much has gone into making this day. So many people hated on each other, their beliefs, convictions, morals and values. I am not hear to determine your values, your lifestyles, your beliefs. I am here to be the best person I can be and possibly be a support to someone else. I am thankful for my President, 4 more years, but I am also thankful for the many men and Women (yes, so many including my friends Congresswoman Janice Hahn, and the amazing Maxine Waters.

  5. The first ever vote I cast for president was for George McGovern.

I was campus co-chair for his campaign as a sophomore at Abilene Christian University in Texas, and I had been lucky enough to meet him with my father some time before. I will never forget the courage and conviction he brought to his stand against the Vietnam war, and his unwavering defense of strong progressive values.

Senator McGovern was a great statesman, whose commitment to peace and equality inspired an entire generation of young activists and leaders like me. He truly left this world a better place for his having been in it.

  9. On National Coming Out Day, I am proud to stand with the LGBT community and NOH8 on the side of love.

I believe marriage equality is a civil rights issue. Love deserves celebrating, not shaming, and no one should feel harassed or unsafe because of who they are.
