Susannah Schiller

Susannah Schiller serves as the Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO) for NIST. As Deputy CIO, Ms. Schiller works closely with the NIST CIO to advise the NIST Director on the planning, execution, evaluation, and delivery of information technology services and support. With the CIO, she is responsible for planning and managing NIST’s core information technology resources effectively, efficiently, and securely so that NIST can achieve its mission.

Prior to becoming Deputy CIO, Ms. Schiller served as the leader of the Information Resources Group (IRG) for the Advanced Technology Program (ATP) at NIST. In that position, she was responsible for all of ATP’s IT resources, specialized database applications, and development of an electronic submission system for ATP’s proposers. While in ATP, Ms. Schiller also served as the Special Assistant to ATP's Director and was responsible for the development, execution, and coordination of policy and communications for the ATP.

Ms. Schiller joined NIST in 1987 and spent eight years in the Statistical Engineering Division of NIST, where she focused on statistical consulting, particularly in the areas of designing and analyzing experiments for Standard Reference Material certification. This was followed by one year on detail as technical staff to the Director of NIST.

Ms. Schiller holds a Master's Degree in Statistics from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Computer Science from the College of Wooster. She was the recipient of a Department of Commerce Bronze Medal and the George Uriano Award.
