I am constantly inspired by the unchanging mission of the Department to do what is right and just.
I joined Justice as an Honors Program attorney directly after law school, and cannot have dreamt of a better first job as a newly-minted lawyer. From my first day in the office, I was given my own cases to handle, and expected to carry my own weight, though with plenty of offers of help from colleagues whose doors were-and still are-always open. No day in the office is routine or predictable, but every day is rewarding. Even as I am challenged daily by novel issues having to do with U.S. and foreign law, and the intersection of U.S. law enforcement and foreign policy interests, I am also constantly inspired by the unchanging mission of the Department to do what is right and just. During my first year with Justice, I was given the opportunity to serve a six-month detail to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney. While there, I gained invaluable courtroom experience as an advocate, and developed confidence working with law enforcement, witnesses, victims, defendants, defense counsel, and judges. My experience at Justice has been more than I could have expected, and I look forward to taking advantage of all the other opportunities that are still in store.
