Health Training Session

Almaty in Kazakhstan — November 2-3, 2010

More than 25 journalists from across Central Asia, including Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Kazakhstan participated in a VOA health training session that looked at pandemic influenza and preparing for health disasters.

Representatives from local and international health organizations, including the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan, made presentations on influenza and infectious diseases.  They touched on the current situation and risks of influenza at both the regional and international level and discussed other infectious diseases, particularly those present in the Central Asian region
