Whitney Heichel, 21, missed the start of her 7 a.m. shift at Starbucks near Southeast Burnside Road and East Powell Boulevard after leaving her nearby home at about 6:45 a.m. Police said they are investigating the case as a suspicious incident. Full story »

Chipmaker Microchip Technology Inc. said Monday that its sales for the quarter that ended two weeks ago were below its expectations, due to economic and industry conditions. Microchip has about 400 employees at its Gresham factory. The Chandler, Ariz., company now expects revenue of $407 million to $408 million.
