The working groups of the Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and
Pension Benefit Plans will hold public meetings on Nov. 12 and 13 in Room S3215
A&B, U.S. Department of Labor Building, Third and Constitution Avenue,
N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210.
On Nov. 12, from 9:30 a.m. to noon the Working Group on Guidance for
Selecting and Monitoring Service Providers will meet and from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
the Working Group on the Impact of Alternative Tax Proposals on ERISA
Employer-Sponsored Plans will meet.
On Nov. 13 from 9:30 a.m. to noon the Working Group on the Protections
for Benefit Plan Participants will meet. The purpose of all the Working Group
meetings is to formulate final reports for the Secretary of Labor.
From 1 to 2 p.m. on Nov. 13, a full Advisory Council will meet to brief
Assistant Secretary Berg on the working groups' final reports for the year and
to hear from her about the activities and accomplishments of the agency and the
department. Five departing council members will also be cited by Ms. Berg for
their contributions.
Individuals or organizations wishing to address the council should
submit 20 copies before Nov. 4 to Sharon Morrissey, acting executive secretary,
ERISA Advisory Council, U.S. Department of Labor, Suite N-5677, 200
Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210. Oral presentations are limited
to 10 minutes but witnesses may submit an extended statement for the record.
Members of the public who do not wish to testify may submit 20 copies of
their statement to the above address. Individuals with disabilities who need
special accommodations should also contact the department by Nov. 4 at the
address above.
The Advisory Council is a bipartisan group of 15 members appointed by
the Secretary of Labor to represent a wide range of interests in the employee
benefit area. The council advises and makes recommendations to the Secretary on
the administration of ERISA.
