A portion of federal funding goes to States in the form of Block Grants or is obligated from year to year under formula grants or specifically earmarked in annual Congressional appropriations bills. Discretionary Federal funding is very limited.
For many projects and proposals, Federal funding may be unavailable or unsuitable. Grantseekers should also consider private or corporate foundation funds: community foundations are especially interested in funding local projects.
